A large, salt water, inner sea around which many of the most advanced countries in the world can be found.
Fed by many rivers, it empties into the Eastern Ocean via the Copis River which turns brackish not too far from the coast.
Certain sages claim the sea was created during an event comparable to the Collapse.
It is full of marine life from the very smallest plankton to massive whales and everything in-between.
Many monsters also make it their home, causing most ships to remain close to the coast. Only the biggest Dolac merchant ships cross the sea in a flotilla of at least three ships and with plenty of magical support.
Notable locations
Arpa Islands
Over the centuries several ships have stumbled upon this archipelago of islands but no subsequent expedition ever found it again. According to reports many species of animals not seen anywhere else in the world live here, including large waterfowl that are described as the best thing the sailors ever ate.
Destraumen Maelstrom
This huge whirlpool, over a hundred miles across according to some, slowly circles the sea, fortunately never coming close to shore. It is said that any ship unlucky enough to be caught in it is pulled down to a layer of the Abyss known as the Shadowsea.
Hundred Mile Islands
This group of three islands is named thus for the fact that they are found along an imaginary line running from north-northwest to south-southeast almost exactly a hundred miles long. They are found about five hundred miles northeast of Avale. From north to south the three islands are Brovpra, Cluval, and Abrinol.
The three islands have a native population of around four thousand each, who have lived there even before the Collapse. Their culture, which is not found anywhere else, is one of spirit worship and ancestor veneration; everyone wears necklaces, bracelets, and anklets made of shells that signify their connections. A number of centuries ago Dolac built outposts on all three isles to support their (merchant) navy.
Kaleido Reef
See Sormark.
Nolla Isle
Said to be haunted and/or cursed. The remains of an old tower can be seen on this small island.
Regilt
A sunken city of old, said to be an ancient capital. Once every so often utensils or other items from the city end up in fisher-men's nets.
Salt Lions
Two basalt beasts, cathedral-sized. They frown eternally at each other across the waves. No one knows how long they have been here. The north one carries an encampment of stonecutters.
Styx Sea
The center of the Sarodin Sea is considered to be haunted and those few that survive a journey through it often have no memory of it, hence the name. More than any supernatural dangers, frequent, huge storms are the reason why no sane captains cross the Styx Sea.
Threepwood Isle
The large island is quite far from everywhere and thus provides a relatively save home to Strebor's Corsairs. The capital, and only city, is Elaine.
