Quick Description

Quinton is a typical care-free young adult with a can-do attitude who suddenly got responsibilities thrust upon him about 2 years ago, and needed to adjust his priorities. He is a walking contradiction, as he is very social but can also spends hours enjoying (ancient) books, is easy going but also needs to point out – ad nauseam – mistakes people make. He has a lot of friends but got dumped by his last girlfriend and decided to stay single for a while. He has a four year younger brother Owen, and a sister Veronica who just turned nineteen last spring.

Appearance

Quinton is the oldest male member of his family a rather wealthy merchant family in produce for decades in this area.

He has brown curly hear that never seems to stay in the same place, but a disarming smile which allows him to bridge the gap to potential buyers and sellers of their merchandise.

He has a somewhat muscular build, mostly because his dad forced him to train with him (“since you never know if vendors will try to rip you off”), but it does not seem to be his passion. He isn’t very tall, more average when compared to his friends and the local tavern visitors, where he spends quite some time.

Since he spent most of his youth outside in the nearby fields & forest and scouring the village, he has a nice tan (despite the fact that he can spend hours reading books in a corner of their mansion) and blue eyes. His left eye seems brighter blue than the other, but he never had a girlfriend complain about that.

Clothes and gear

Quinton is usually wearing simple looking, easy fitting but – at close examination – distinguished clothes with a quality leather jacket and fine boots, which both have the family crest on them. He wears silver and gold rings on his hands, a brass hanger with an amethyst around his neck, and a leather belt with runes inscribed, closed with a big brass buckle.

He wears a dagger and a sickle on his belt on each hip, and a handaxe in a custom-made holder on his back. All are engraved with the family crest and adorned with many details and old family runes.

While traveling, he has a custom-made backpack providing him with everything needed on the road.

Personal history

Quinton has been living in this village most of his life, however often visits other places near and far for business related matters. He heard a lot of stories from his mother and father about their travels and is adamant to visit a lot of places before he finally rests his eyes.

About Quinton

Quinton has a very welcoming and open personality, but can sometimes seem a bit annoyed if someone is stating wrong facts or is mixing stories. He learned the magic of books at a young age, and has read many books across various topics. Also, the town druid loves to share his tales with him during their times together.

Childhood

As a kid, Quinton had an easy life. His family – as merchants – were able to provide him with all his favorite foods and drinks, and he had little to no daily tasks to perform. He loved to wander around town or the fields nearby, sometimes alone, sometimes with his mother, but mostly with his friends. While he was home-schooled, he still was able to make meaningful connections with other kids in town, some of which became his closest friends later.

Teens

When he got older, Quinton spend more and more time experiencing the town live which took his mind off the boring family business. The only bright moments were the trips he got to take, riding along the caravans to other towns and gaining new experiences.

While the homeschooling focused mostly on math and the economy of trading, he rather spend time with the lady of the local flower-store who could talk for hours why certain flowers combinations made for better arrangements than others, their origins and what was the best soil for the different plants. Or the local druid, who always had a nice tale from one of his travels or adventures, and gave him his now favorite book which was written in Ancient. It gave him a hard time in understanding it, but also the opportunity to go back more often to the old man for explanation on some of the words.

The language and expressions used in it were just too much fun to shock his teacher at times...

Adulthood

When his mother returned from a business trip about two and a half years ago, she felt a bit under the weather and in the following days became more and more ill. The local healers were unable to stop the decline of her health and while waiting for the head-priest from a town a few days travel away, she passed on. In her last moments, his mother had him called to her, and gave him her necklace, which she had gotten a few years before, as a way to remember her. She also gave him the seal ring with the family crest, and told him that she wanted him to continue the merchant house. Her husband was going to keep business going until he was ready.

While he was not thrilled to take on the responsibilities, he noticed his dad’s inability to predict trends in business as he was always more interested in fighting, weapons and armor than the day-to-day merchant activities.

He took it upon himself to learn as much as possible as soon as possible from the druid, the flower-shop, the farmers and the woods before his father bankrupted the family business

Now the business is thriving again, and most contacts praise the quality of their products. However, why they seem so full, bright and taste so well is a secret he’s not planning on sharing soon.

To be discovered, hopefully some cool ones!

The journey begins

Now that the business seemed to have stabilized under his new management and he can trust his best friend Cedric for the day-to-day business, Quinton has a firm commitment to start exploring the world in search for new customers, new markets and new products! And – with any luck – perhaps love…?
