Crustaceans
Very little is known about this centuries old organization, but what we are ignorant of is immense. Whatever is known is often second hand information and speculative at best.
Though the organization is ancient, it's only been moderately successful. You could say their greatest accomplishment is keeping the organization alive. While their goals are grand their crab mentality makes it very hard to actually accomplish anything. Whenever a member sprouts original ideas, or excels, they are usually undermined by fellow members.
Mythology
Crustaceans believe all life comes from the ocean. Under the pale light of the moon waves crashed the shore and crabs walked the beaches, inhabiting the lands, sowing the seeds for other life. In time, other life started to turn against the sea.
When the Hydra of the seas was attacked by a hero the mighty crab came to its aid. Sadly, the Hydra was slain and the crab crushed under the foot of the hero. The gods admired the crab for its courage and gave it a place among the stars as the constellation Carcinus. The creation of life on land can be remembered several times a day when the tides are high.
There seems to be no basis for this mythology today.
Organizational structure
Their numbers are unknown, and because they don't wear sigils or crests it's not easy to identify members. It is said they operate as individuals, but their influence can be substantial.
Crustaceans seem to pop up every now and then when powerful objects and entities are at play. They will hardly ever reveal themselves as a Crustacean and usually operate under the cover of another organization. They favor political positions as it's a means to gain leverage. Though some have taken scholarly or research positions.
Nothing is known about hierarchy, ranks or organization. There don't seem to be offices, or places of worship.
Goals
The core of their motives is to return the lands to their creator. And by doing so heaving judgement over unworthy creatures. Because no man can flood an entire continent, they are after deities that will support their cause and artifacts that are powerful enough, or to leverage others into doing so.
However, individual members tend to lose sight of this goal and get lost in personal gain.
Some Crustaceans aim to recreate the Collapse in the ocean. Hoping that the cataclysm will displace the ocean into covering the continent.
How members will survive such an event, or survive in the ocean afterwards, is not known.
Blue blood
Crustaceans value blue blood. One of the reasons their coat of arms bears a crab. Though the members rarely actually have blue blood, they simulate this by avoiding sunlight. They dress in full covering clothing, wear hats or carry umbrellas. It's not unusual for them to wear gloves all year round. The goal is to achieve a pale white skin which shows their veins as being blue.
Some reports of Crustacean gatherings tell of members wearing light, lace-like robes showing lots of skin. Paleness and blue veins are possibly a status symbol within the organization.
