Marinda

Marinda Winterwies is a human cleric from a small mountain village, Lantres. She is a cleric of Istus with the knowledge domain. Because of her past she has a deep distrust of elves and doesn’t really like others she doesn’t know either. She has a believe that she has to help the people around her survive and has to make the world a better place.

Life in Lantres

Marinda was born and raised in Lantres. From a young age, she helped spin goat wool and became a seamstress later on. She owned a shop where she sold her garments, supplies and some leather armour. Her house, where she lives alone, is above the shop. She owns a few goats and a beehive in the backyard.

She lives next to her sister, Petunia, and brother in law, Marshall, who work in the smithy and live above it. She works together with them to make armour.

Time of the elves

With the Elves expanding their territory, a delegation of them came to Lantres to take produce and other things they needed and wanted. Their inhuman beauty and manipulation techniques worked relatively well on the residents of Lantres. More and more residents grew unhappy, they wouldn’t dare to stand up to the elves. Marinda, together with Marshall, hid away a number of weapons and tools to be used as weapons, as well as some armour. These helped tremendously with grouping people into a militia and driving off elves.

After a battle where both sides felt they were losing too much forces they decided on settling with a fight between the ‘queen bees’. Marinda challenged the officer for a one-on-one fight. After a harsh battle that could go both ways, Marinda came out on top and sent the rest of the elves back to where they came from. After rebuilding what was lost, life in Lantres went on, though the story of the battle was talked about for years after.

Call from divinity

One day while spinning fleece into thread, the thread broke. Marinda was quite surprised this happened, since it hadn’t happened since she was young. The spindle had three loose thread-ends sticking out resembling Istus’ symbol (though Marinda didn’t know this yet). Istus related to Marinda how she was needed for something bigger. For this, the first step was going to Korint. It was a long way away, so she asked Petunia and her niece to look after her shop and her animals. Not knowing what to expect, Marinda took the armour she made for herself during the elven ambush.

When landed in Korint, Marinda quickly found her way to Vardan and the temple. She lived there for the time being, cleaning, creating patches of Istus’ symbol and helping around the place. When the party was sent off to the sky-stone, she was sent after them when it came to Vardan’s attention that a group of the Kasarian Embassy, including Irlon Chrontavin, was after them. After meeting the party, it was quite clear to Marinda that this was part of the something bigger.
