Found by Reb in the Kasarian Embassy in Korint.
This compact book is small enough to fit inside a large pocket. It features a very sturdy binding and a brown leather cover with its title in orange ink. All the pages are full of text in a tiny script, the language is one that is unfamiliar to you. However, just browsing the pages gives you a warm feeling of belonging and usefulness.
A note that came with it translates to: "Empty book, given to Uyots' priests’ bodyguards."
As long as you own the Vigilant’s Primer and are attuned to it, it has the following properties.
Obeisance You have advantage on Religion checks.
Duty When you should rightfully die after a failed third death save, instead the Primer heals you for a number of dice equal to your level. These dice start out as d8’s but decrease in size every time this property is used. When this property is triggered, you also gain a detriment. The first detriment is a vulnerability to Radiant damage and a nagging feeling that you should try harder.
Sacrifice When a creature within 30 feet, and within line of sight, takes damage, you may use your reaction to take the damage instead, no other effects are transferred. The damage dealt to you has no type, and ignores any resistance, immunity, or damage reduction you might have. You can use this property once per long rest.
Vigilance When you hit a creature with a melee attack that deals bludgeoning damage, you can move it 5 feet to an unoccupied space, provided the target is no more than one size larger than you. You can use this property three times per short rest.
Patience When you hit a creature with an attack you can roll one extra damage die, using the damage die for the weapon used. If the weapon used rolls multiple damage dice, you still only roll one extra die. You can use this property once per short rest.
Resolve Should you have reason to, you can study the Primer for 10 minutes, afterwards it ends one effect on you that is causing you to be charmed or frightened. Should you have no such effect on you, it instead gives you advantage on the next save made against either effect within the next hour.
