A world spanning society of (mostly) abjurers, self appointed keepers of arcane magic. Founded after the Kasarian Conflict when magic wasn't seen as something all that positive. It was felt by some that having a group of responsible people make sure that other spellcasters didn't go off the deep end by either causing wanton violence, or, gods forbid, another Collapse, would help in bringing back trust in arcane magic.

In many countries they 'police' magic users for the government. In most of the Heartland nations no one is allowed to cast arcane spells without a license bought from Abjura Dolana.

Their buildings also functions as shrines to Boccob in cities where the god has no temple.

Ascending order of rank
  • Aspis
  • Warder
  • Sentinel
  • Magister (they always carry a staff as their badge of office)

Banak lodge

The Godfall has a complicated relation ship with Abjura Dolana. While no one in the realm wants another Collapse, or so one would hope, not everyone is sure the abjurers should be the ones to police everyone else. Add to that a still present national pride in Balturian magic and a higher than average number of arcane spellcasters within the citizenry, and it becomes clear why a license is not needed in the country.

That said, what way any particular city leans is very much dependent on the current leader and the feeling of the populace. In some towns Abjura Dolana is seen as a necessary pressure valve, in others they are hardly tolerated. In Banak things are tense as both camps are well supported but the current Burgomeister supports the abjurers.

The Banak lodge is well staffed with around twenty wizards and plenty of apprentices. It is rumored they also have a number of 'spies' in town, wizards who keep their actual profession and allegiance a secret. Elyth Rheloph, an older human man with very bushy brows from Mifora has been the Magister here for over a decade, which is longer than postings normally last. There are no fewer than three Sentinels; Bhaeryta Bersk, an Otteun woman of surprising delicacy, a fair half-elf woman of unknown origin; Sirane Loriamanthor, and Idrin the Imbar, a dwarven man with great sense of humor but a terrible laugh.

Ide Volcar lodge

Of all organizations originating from south of the Sarodin Sea, Abjura Dolana is probably the one with the largest foothold north of the sea. They have a quite close relationship with the Haza government and help with identifying any arcane spellcasters who enter the country. Said spellcasters are then given the choice to pay 5 gp for a license that requires them to also swear fealty to the royal house and wear a badge indicating they did, meaning they can be ordered to help out by guardsmen or other government officials, or pay 500 gp for a license without the oath.

The Ide Volcar lodge is larger than most, having somewhere around two dozen wizards and numerous apprentices on the premises. Their leader is a raven-haired woman of fair complexion, Magister Cara Hysel, a career magistrate who managed to land this position at the tender age of 43. She has a quite pleasant demeanor but brooks no nonsense. Most day-to-day activities fall under the supervision of Sentinel Hull Nurian, a garrulous Loverian man, and Warder Brenna Rendask, an entrancing woman from Dolac.

Korint lodge

This far west Abjura Dolana does not have much of a presence and they haven't been able to gain any official standing with the government. The lodge on Lamb's Way is quite small, just two wizards and a few apprentices. It is lead by Sentinel Selise Akhmelere, an older Miforan woman with a stooped back. Second in command is Warder locum tenens Delthrin Dhacrylon, a young Vildan man with a broken nose.

Midtal lodge

Abjura Dolana claims to be a-political and while they might have certain issues with the Otteun government, this hasn't stopped them from being an integral part of the country's workings. If there's something Otteuns are good at; it's paperwork. At all border checkpoints Abjura Dolana mages are stationed to inspect every foreigner coming into the country. All arcane spellcasters are to buy a license for 10 gold pieces and part with a single strand of their hair or they won't be allowed into the country. They are to carry the license at all times and it spells out that any (property) damage caused by the casting of spells is to be paid for twice over. Divine spellcasters are asked to wear a holy symbol of their deity in plain view at all times.

The lodge building, a former army storehouse, can be found on Corporal Court in the Patriots ziek. The Magister here is Catindra Eriach, a middle-aged woman with a hawk's nose and one blue and one green eye, She's a recent appointee from Dolac and has Otteun roots. Two Sentinels are posted here; Otso Galgurn, a dwarven man from Loveria with a metal leg who does most of the public facing work, and Kara Salvere, a young Miforan woman with outlandish tastes.

Stjordvik lodge

Lead by Magister Ildool Illeon, a tall, grave Dolac man with a short dark beard, who dresses in a quite old fashioned style, this lodge has had to fight for relevance more than most but they have always found generous support in the local ruler. Abjura Dolana isn't as highly respected here as in the heartlands and especially in Stjordvik they constantly have to deal with 'those bloody bards'; exactly the kind people who are prone to casting spells willy-nilly and who hold no truck with any kind of regulatory body.
