Made of ocher colored silken brocade this large tea cosy is expertly decorated with forest animals stitched in silver thread.

This item and its companion were specifically crafted for Emperor Caeus of Mifora who was a tea aficionado and wanted to be able to drink the aromatic beverage anywhere. He is personally credited with the invention of four different tea blends.

Use

The cosy comes with eight small hidden pockets that can each hold two ounces (57 grams). As an action, the user can have the content of a single pocket transferred to whatever the cosy is covering. This is normally used to put different teas in the companion teapot but should one wear the cosy on one's head, then the content could be transferred to one's mouth.

It can also be used to store things in an extradimensional space. This cosy has an interior space considerably larger than its outside dimensions, roughly 2 feet in diameter at the mouth and 1 feet deep. The cosy can hold up to 250 pounds, not exceeding a volume of 32 cubic feet. The cosy weighs 1 pound, regardless of its contents and will keep any teapot warm under all circumstances. Retrieving an item from the cosy requires an action.

Content

Originally the cosy came filled with the following items:

  • Eight different tea blends, four ounces (114 grams) of each.
  • Four large tablecloths, twelve place-mats, twelve egg cosies, forty-eight napkins, four sets of oven gloves, and four aprons, all matching the design of the cosy.
  • Twenty-four tea cups and saucers made from Fir Lanearian porcelain, all decorated with forest animals.
  • A full twelve person set of dinnerware made from Fir Lanearian porcelain, all decorated with forest animals; plates, dishes, bowls, etc.
  • A full twelve person set of Miforan crystal glassware etched with vertical geometric patterns.
  • A full twelve person set of cutlery made of Haza silver with an arboreal design.
  • Four three-branched candelabras made of Haza silver with an arboreal design.
  • One-hundred-and-twenty candles decorated with a forest motif.

Handling Instructions

If the cosy is overloaded, pierced, or torn, it ruptures and is destroyed, and its contents are scattered in the Astral Plane. If the cosy is turned inside out, its contents spill forth, unharmed, but the cosy must be put right before it can be used again. Breathing creatures inside the cosy can survive up to a number of minutes equal to 5 divided by the number of creatures (minimum 1 minute), after which time they begin to suffocate.

Placing a cosy of holding inside an extradimensional space created by a Heward's handy haversack, portable hole, or similar item instantly destroys both items and opens a gate to the Astral Plane. The gate originates where the one item was placed inside the other. Any creature within 10 feet of the gate is sucked through it to a random location on the Astral Plane. The gate then closes. The gate is one-way only and can't be reopened.
