Whilst in theory the absolute power in the country lies with Kráľ (King) Karlo Locce, the reality is that he rules by Haza's consent. After four lost wars, the last over three centuries ago, Vilda's surrender to its more powerful neighbor to the west was all but total. Any defiance has been bred out of the royal house, or so they like to say in Haza. There is no remaining nobility in the country, at least not any with power; a system of provincial governors and below them regional prefects now runs the country though corruption is significant.

Those to the south of the Sarodin Sea usually think of Mifora when it comes to grain, of Otteun for potatoes and Sormark for rice. In fact, nowhere in the known world as much grain is grown as in Vilda. Over half of the country is one unending sea of waving grain. The soil and climate are so suited to those amber stalks that two crops can be grown yearly.

The country is quite poor by most standards and there is little in the way of large scale lifestock farming but the Vildaans in the coastal regions are consummate fishermen.

Geography

Ever Vigilant Eye

In the north of the country, west of the Giant’s Crown Mountains one finds something that can only be seen from high up in the sky; a great blue eye gazes out from the ground. This unblinking eye is nearly forty kilometers across. On the ground they are just concentric rings of dikes and gulleys with some vegetation but from the air it looks uncanny. Sages have studied it ever since it was first discovered by the Balturans but no one has been able to divine any rhyme or reason behind it.

Half Giant of Silj Brut

This twenty-five meter tall towering rock formation resembles the waist and legs of a giant. Ever since it was discovered it has been a very popular destination even though it's a two hour journey from the town of Silj Brut. Local Pholtans claim that their deity slew a cloud giant and its severed bottom half turned to stone and fell to earth.
