Named by early cartographers for what they saw as the spikes of a giant crown coming out of the earth, this enormous mountain range spans a large part of the world and is known for being almost impassable.
The southeastern end starts about where Dolac, Mifora, Fir Lanear and Otteun border each other. From there it continues east, with one ancient tunnel crossing them, until just past the fabled Falls from the Mist where it turns to the northeast. It runs on till almost the edge of the continent with only a hard to reach pass near Lantres and the Copis river as the only two places where it can be crossed. It then takes a sharp left, cradling the Reuel Woods as it goes westwards, ending in Vilda.
Many creatures make the mountains their home. At the highest heights dragons used to roam but they disappeared not long after the Collapse. In the times of Baltur the dwarves had ways to travel there safely to mine all kinds of rare gems and metals. Now remorhazes and gray renders fight for dominance up there and dine on mountain goats and anyone foolish enough to go up there.
The lower reaches are much more settled with different creatures on each side of the ridge. To the north in Mifora it's mostly hill giants and their ilk that can be found, whereas to the south one finds the Naguk orc tribe. The Vergu tribe is found on the southeastern slope, bordering Fir Lanear. Where the range divides Sormark and Loveria, one finds ogres on the western side and goblinoids on the eastern side. Further north one finds creatures like gnolls and mountain trolls to the west and galeb durh and other elemental creatures on the Reuel Woods side. In Vilda it's mostly goblinoids that are found.
