			[[The Dig - Chronological order of Events#Bakers’ Alley\|Research into the Otomitl]] returned the following:

			* The Otomitl were bodyguards to the priests of the god Uyots.
			* They were promoted from within Uyots’ elite soldiers, the Lotl, beast spirit warriors.
			* As Otomitl they lost their Lotl powers but gained others as they pledged themselves to a priest and proved their worth.
			* Over time the bodyguard and their priest learned to work so well together that their spells and actions had a profound effect on one and the other, making both even more dangerous in combat.
